Gary Papa’s memorial service will not be open to the public but will be streamed on 6abc.com and telecast on 6ABC’s Digital Channel 2 (6-2), Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. from the National Constitution Center.
The reason for the location is because Papa was a big history buff.
Papa died of prostate cancer on June 19.

This is from Inside Radio:
Philadelphia TV station gets more power, but its FM impact is unclear.
The FCC doesn’t believe that allowing WPVI-TV to quadruple its signal strength to compensate for the switch to digital will step on FM signals. The FCC though is hedging its bets by giving WPVI-TV a special six-month temporary authority. Engineers from the adjoining noncommercial band (FM 88.1-91.9) are watching closely for interference threats to their signals. WPVI-TV (Channel 6) is among the low-dial VHF stations complaining their digital signals have sharply reduced coverage. Engineers saw it coming and recommended they move to UHF. Few though were willing to give up their prime spectrum.

Though it will probably be awhile before 6ABC names an official replacement for Gary Papa, if I had to make a guess, I think that Jamie Apody will get the nod.
It’s just a guess.

“Steve Bucci’s Total Phillies Trivia” by Camino publishing (caminobooks.com) is available in bookstores and online stores such as amazon.com.
Bucci lost his position as weekend sports anchor at CBS3 around a year ago.
Currently, the CBS3 sports department consists of Beasley Reece and Don Bell. News reporter Jamie Smith does a competent job filling in on sports once in a while.

Expect this Michael Jackson story to last the entire summer. For those who watched the CBS special Thursday night, Michael Jackson expert, J. Randy Taraborelli is from the Philly area. You’ll be sure to see him on television plenty over the next few weeks.
I remember when Hard Copy and Diane Dimond did shows about Jackson every night in 1993.
CBS3 did a story about when The Jacksons recorded their album with the hits “Enjoy Yourself” and “Dancing Machine” at Philly International Records back in the late 70’s.
