6ABC’s Dave Roberts’ last day will be December 11th. He will broadcast his final Thanksgiving parade on November 26th.
With Roberts’ retirement and the death of sport director Gary Papa in June, news anchor Jim Gardner is the only one left from the longtime team.
Cecily Tynan took over the 11 p.m. show from Roberts a few years ago.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions at WPVI.
We used to go to the Larry Ferrari tapings, all the time, and we would meet him either in the hall or in the waiting room.
Such a nice guy.

As a lifelong ACTION NEWS viewer, I must say that Dave Roberts is an institution in the Delaware Valley and he will be missed when he retires. I will always remember him pointing to the Happy High and Meany low pressure system clouds on the old magnetic weather map, I kind of wish channel 6 never got rid of it for Dave’s sake. I will miss Dave doing the weather outside on City Avenue, and him joking around with Jim Gardner every night. Dave, enjoy your well deserved retirement. God Bless!

Jim Gardner is the last of the old Buffalo Gang. Polec,Papa and now Roberts all gone leaves Gardner as the only one. With the exception of Papa all came from WKBW which at one time was a powerhouse in Western New York and Southern and Eastern Ontario

I now wonder who will forecast the weather @ 5 & 6. Maybe Cecily who currently forecasts at 5:30 & 11pm. Do you think that they will name her Chief Meteorologist? Who will host the Thanksgiving Day Parade Next Year? And what about the Flower Show? There are so many unanswered questions!!!

Does this mean that I will have to see even more of the trollop now? 6ABC has such high standards, yet they keep this blonde floozy. Maybe Michael Smerconish needs to send them the audio of the trollop calling her husband’s ex-wife. The trollop must really be blonde for actually leaving the message she did, knowing that it could be heard by anyone the ex-wife wanted to have hear it.
Dave Murphy would be perfect for replacing Dave Roberts.

I have a feeling Adam Joseph will be getting Robert’s gig since he is the main fill in for Dave plus he is young and can probably do thirty years like Dave if he chooses. Just like when Jim Gardner retires chances are Matt O’Donnell will be getting his job.

LOL. No skeletons, no infidelity, not even a parking ticket.Too bad the same can’t be said for the trollop.
She should have divorced her 1st husband BEFORE she started sleeping around if she was no longer in love with him. I say that speaks volumes about her character, as well as the infamous voicemail that she left.
She is certainly not a person I would want to bring into my house on a nightly basis. She is certainly no Sally Ann.

Then by all means, don’t bring her in to your home. Last time I checked, you have a choice.
As for me, I don’t dwell on people’s personal business. We all have shortcomings, even if we don’t want to admit to them; those whose job happens to involve something public still are people when the camera is off, even if the public doesn’t seem capable of figuring that out.
Holding on to a grudge from years back over something that doesn’t remotely involve me and has no bearing on a person’s career? Why bother?

I don’t plan on bringing her into my house, and that includes via the boob tube, which is what is is when she is on it.
As for your holier-than-thou attitude, I guess that you embrace every public personality, including ALL politicians, because they are still people off the air or when not in office. What a load of hogwash. There is no one that you dislike? If there are, then why do you dislike them? Is it for something they did in the past? If so, then that is proof that you hold grudges as well. So, tell me again what the point of your post was?

Dave Roberts was always fun to watch when he used to stand in front of the map and point at happy and sad faced clouds. I can’t believe they kept that map for so long. But, that being said, he seemed really out of place with all the newer technology and I think that even though he could probably have done his job for longer, he just didn’t fit the mold of a modern weathercaster.
I will always miss him making Jim Gardner laugh all the time and vice versa. Many a time, neither of them could continue a segment without bursting out in laughter.
He will be missed, but I wish him all the best in his retirement. he deserves it.

How much longer can Jim Gardner stay there? He must be going crazy with the knuckleheads who are behind the scenes. It’s obvious that Gardner is an incredible pro. He’s the kind of anchor who is always prepared: who has pre-read his scripts and even written some of them. But the technical side of channel 6s newscasts has become a total disaster. They play the wrong video, mess up the order of the scripts, allow the broadcas to go to black, fail to turn mics on. It goes on and on. Gardner has got to be close to saying, “This is bullcrap; I’m done. Time for 18 holes every day.”

Dog, the day that happens is the day the other newscasts have a chance at unseating six.
It would be interesting if that were to happen if six hired Dawn and Larry. People could tune in just to watch Dawn glare at Larry every time he introduced the trollop. You’d be able to read in her eyes, “You’re through with tarts.”

Look for Rick Williams as main anchor as before 2015. I DONT want Matt O’Donnell as main man. When this happens Matt will be promoted to the 5:00 news. TOO genetic!!! Why would Carla Carpenter, their news director promote Adam Joseph as their chief weather-person. When Cecily already does the 11:00 weather. Their a mess in the sports dept.
No one stands out as their ’sports director’.

Ask Steve Schwaid in Atlanta what you do about the sports department, even when it’s not a mess. You get rid of it. He has given the entire channel 46 sports team has about 30 days to pack their bags. They have been let go. And these are guys with decades of experience. Replacing them: radio announcers. Sports is on the way out..especially here with Comcast so strong.

If Adam gets a weeknight job, it’s not as the lead–that job is already taken. It would be nothing more than an expansion of what he’s been doing filling in for Dave.
Whether that’s cost-effective is another issue, as it would create an opening on weekends.

LOL… ‘Juvenile diatribe?’ I see that your ‘Word Of The Day’ calendar has paid off for you.
I flip the channel when the trollop reports the weather, regardless of the time the news airs. All that does is give me an opportunity to see what ABC6’s competition has to offer, which is the last thing anyone wants of their consumer. I watch 6 for the news, just not the weather. However, at what point does channel 6 want to risk that people like me ‘forget’ to turn back when they figure the trollop has finished spewing her nonsense? People in business don’t give their rivals the opportunity to steal their consumers.
6 should can Cecily, she doesn’t bring anything to the table. Her phoniness comes through loud and clear when she’s on camera, unlike the others on camera at ABC6.

They (channel 6) can easily afford to lose one person who can’t get past name calling about something that has nothing to do with them. (And what century are we in again? Besides such a pathetic insistence on an ancient word?)
Rest assued, you’re in the small minority. Nothing wrong with that, but when it comes to pleasing the majority of fans or the puritans…well, that’s an easy call.

6ABC doesn’t like to see their personalities making news. Look at the Monica fiasco. During her divorce, she ‘decided’ to leave the airwaves, as to not bring shame to the station. The trollop is lucky that the media and the gossip columnists weren’t playing up these stories back when she committed her infidelity. Nowadays, I doubt that he would get a pass. However, even though Monica’s infidelity wasn’t reported much, it was reported enough that 6 did what it had to in order to keep the high moral ground they pride themselves on. They won’t allow their talent to submit stories for emmy consideration, why would they be pleased to know that people view Cecily as the trollop she is? She a fake and a fraud, and the sooner she parts ways with 6ABC, the better off that station will be… and so you know, I consider Larry Mendte to be the male version of a trollop. Alycia Lane is just a skank.

I’m sure they’re losing sleep over one moralizer with a stick so far up their posterior a NASA mission wouldn’t be able to reach it. Hard as it may be to believe, most folks aren’t the same way and are capable of understanding the distinction between human mistakes and issues outside of work and actual job performance (and the difference between criminal and non-criminal actions, a rather bright line).
Clearly, they have no intention of parting ways anytime soon. Does that tell you anything?
